Take a chance on autumn and changes
Every morning is colder, and every day gets shorter. Changes ... You can sniff the air outside, feel the freshness lingering and might go a bit like “Brrrr, where is the sunshine? I wanna stay home …”. But, hold it right there! You can totally go outside. Hell, you will probably even #loveit once you are out and shuffling the leaves on the ground with your waterproof shoes (yep, think about the clothes before though … there is no bad weather, there is just lousy preparation). Yes, your wardrobe is changing, but more importantly your mindset too should be changing. So in short: the thing is, #Autumn has arrived, and A goes for autumn, as well as #awesome. Let go of summer and embrace the changes of each season.
I love the saying that “knowing what happens is not part of the deal”. You can plan as much as you want, you can do your share in putting in your effort and ideas, you can think of every little detail (if you are one of these insane perfectionists), do proper analysis based on tons of variables and well-proven models (being in the trading business, I could talk about that more as well), and yet … what happens in the end is something that life and outer influences will have their say in. There is no way of knowing which factors can mess up your perfect plan, neither can you predict which amazing moments can come out of an initially failed plan.
No rocket science really, isn’t it? It is as natural as the change of the seasons. So why is there tons of research and experiments proving that the human response to change is always somehow linked to negativity? Easy peasy: it is in fact scary to not know. You have to give up control and go with the flow. The result can be annoying as hell! But hey, guess what?! Why not think of it the other way around: not knowing and changes can also be such treats! It really just is how you react to the thoughts and surroundings. You can crawl under a blanket and safely count on Netflix to be there for you, or you can go outside on the windy and slightly rainy cycling tour and maybe meet the one person you did not know you were looking for.
Ok, it’s not just this dreamy chit chat. Let’s take an example. Wilma Rudolph. She was a little child when, back in the 1940s, children were not yet vaccinated against a terrible disease called polio. She got infected unfortunately and was left with a paralyzed leg. The doctors told her she would never walk again, but her mother kept saying she would, and Wilma decided to believe her. The whole family was putting enormous effort into taking her for treatment and massaging her leg every day. She used braces to walk, and other kids would mock her for years. Still she kept trying to walk when she was at home on her own, and it was hard, but by the age of 9 she had done it – step by step Wilma could finally walk on her own again! She even started playing basketball and racing for the track team of her school. She did not cave and decided to cope with change that no one could have foreseen. Wilma became the fastest woman of the world and broke three records at the 1960s Olympics.
Now I hope this is just a big story to prove small things can make a huge difference. It does not have to be an enormous leap for humanity to prove changes are good, nor does it have to be as tragic as life putting you down. Just don’t be afraid of #changes. Autumn is the time of colors changing in nature – get out there and enjoy them. You might find that you have so much more energy than after having binge-watched another series. Also, to hell with you having to stick with an ancient mindset of yours – rethink, question yourself and others what still serves you and what has outlived itself … Yes, you can even totally try out the #musicalclass of Gravity9, or sing for the first time in your life without having the confidence of knowing what you do or what it will turn into. Give up control. Change your mind. And when you get out, don’t forget to change your shoes!
